Scripture:
Genesis 3:1
"Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, 'Did God really say...?'"
Reflection:
Satan's first strategy in the garden wasn't to deny God's existence or openly rebel against Him. Instead, he simply asked, "Did God really say...?" This same tactic is alive and thriving today through progressive Christianity, secular humanism, and cultural relativism.
When we hear phrases like "your truth" and "my truth," or when religious leaders reinterpret Scripture to align with cultural trends rather than historic Christian teaching, we're hearing the same ancient question: "Did God really say...?" The enemy knows that if he can get us to question whether God's Word means what it says, he can lead us anywhere.
The antidote is knowing Scripture well enough to recognize when it's being twisted, and having the courage to stand on God's clear revelation even when it's unpopular.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, open my eyes to recognize the enemy's tactics. Help me to see through questions and teachings designed to make me doubt Your clear Word. Give me discernment to identify deception, even when it comes wrapped in religious language or claims of enlightenment. Make me a defender of Your truth, not through anger or pride, but through love and conviction rooted in Your Word. Amen.
Action:
When you encounter a teaching or idea that seems to contradict Scripture this week, pause and ask yourself: "Is this a 'Did God really say?' moment?" Search Scripture to find what God actually says about the topic, and share that truth graciously with someone who needs to hear it.
