Scripture:
Psalm 24:1; 1 Corinthians 4:2
"The earth is the Lord's, and all its fullness, the world and those who dwell therein... Moreover it is required in stewards that one be found faithful."
Reflection:
True understanding of money and possessions begins with recognizing that God owns everything. We are stewards, not owners. The sermon reminded us that "if He wants it, who am I to tell Him He can't have it?" This perspective transforms how we view giving, spending, and saving. We're not giving God our money when we tithe or give offerings—we're returning to Him what was already His. We're not sacrificing when we're generous—we're aligning ourselves with the Owner of all things. Faithful stewardship means managing God's resources according to His purposes, not our preferences.
Prayer:
Lord, I acknowledge that everything I have belongs to You. My income, my possessions, my time, my talents—all of it is Yours. Forgive me for the times I've acted as if I were the owner rather than the steward. Help me to be found faithful in managing what You've entrusted to me. Give me wisdom to steward Your resources according to Your purposes and the courage to release anything You ask of me. Amen.
Action:
Make a practical commitment to faithful stewardship this week. This might involve: (1) If you don't currently tithe, commit to taking a step toward it; (2) Review your budget to ensure it reflects God's priorities; (3) Identify one area where you've been holding back from God and surrender it to Him; (4) Set up a specific plan for giving to support the mission of Christ's church. Take one concrete step today toward being a more faithful steward of what God has entrusted to you.
