The Danger of Comfort

Scripture:
Luke 12:48
"From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked."

Reflection:

Esther had every reason to stay comfortable. She was queen. She had wealth, security, and influence. She could have rationalized: "I'll lose everything if I speak up. Surely God doesn't expect me to risk it all." But comfort can be the enemy of calling. When God blesses you with position, resources, or influence, it's not just for your benefit—it's for His purposes. The question isn't "How can I protect what I have?" but "How can I steward what I've been given for God's kingdom?" Your comfort zone might be the very place where God's calling can't reach you. What blessing has God given you that He's now asking you to risk for His purposes?

Prayer:

Lord, forgive me for the times I've chosen comfort over calling. Help me hold loosely to the blessings You've given me, recognizing that they're tools for Your kingdom, not trophies for my collection. Give me the courage to risk what I have for what You want to do. Break me free from the prison of comfort and security. I want to be available for Your purposes, whatever the cost. Amen.

Action:
Identify one area of comfort or security you've been protecting. Ask God if He's calling you to risk it for kingdom purposes—whether that's financial security, reputation, time, or position. Write down what you sense Him saying and one step you could take in obedience.
