The Secret Revealed

Scripture:
Matthew 5:14-16
"You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven."

Reflection:

Esther kept her Jewish identity secret for years. It was a survival strategy in a hostile environment. But when the moment came, when her people's lives hung in the balance, she had to reveal who she truly was. There comes a time when silence becomes complicity, when hiding becomes disobedience. God may have protected you and positioned you in places where your faith isn't obvious, but He didn't place you there to stay hidden forever. Your "such a time as this" moment may require you to reveal your true identity as a follower of Jesus, to speak up, stand out, and let your light shine. The very thing you've been protecting may be the very thing God wants to use to bring deliverance to others.

Prayer:

Lord Jesus, I confess the times I've hidden my faith to avoid discomfort or conflict. Give me wisdom to know when to speak and when to listen, but also give me courage to identify openly as Your follower when the moment requires it. Help me understand that You didn't save me to keep my faith private, You saved me to be a light in dark places. Show me where I need to step out of the shadows and reveal my true identity as Your child. Amen.

Action:

Think of one relationship or environment where you've kept your faith mostly hidden. Pray about one specific, appropriate way you could let your light shine there this week, whether through a conversation, an invitation to church, a prayer offered, or simply living out your values more visibly. Take that step.
